Almost There in Prospect Heights

Instagram even makes construction prettier
We're happy to report that we have walls and floors and ceilings at the new space in Prospect Heights. And though there's still lots of furniture to buy things to paint, we'll be hosting some classes there starting in mid-January, with daytime coworking coming very shortly thereafter. Below is the still-very-raw backyard, just waiting for some TLC this spring. We can't wait!   And if you're wondering exactly...

Malted Milk Powder!

Malted Milk Powder!
I made an absolutely awesome recipe from the blog A Cake Bakes in Brooklyn today (thanks to Four Pounds Flour for the link!). It's for "frozen malted milk cookies," and it's really a cake, not cookies, but no matter cause it tastes amazing.  In order to make the cake, I picked up some malted milk powder (above) for the very first time. The MTA's Amazing Commercials from the '80's

This guy wants you to ride the train
Our friend Reema showed these great commercials in last night's NYC subway class. They were produced by the MTA itself in 1989, with the intent of getting New Yorkers back on the trains and "heralding the revitalization of the system." The resulting commercials are a strange, not-super-positive but charming and incredibly honest look at the subway system.  You should spend 3 minutes watching them, below, or o...
