Do you want to learn to paint or increase your painting skills?  Still Life lessons are the best way to discover and practice the basic techniques of drawing and painting. In this class, we'll learn the fundamentals of painting in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Class and individual instruction will be provided on composition, color mixing, perspective, techniques, and more. Come discover how exciting still-life painting can be!

No experience is necessary and all materials will be provided. You'll create (and take home that day) a 16x20 canvas of your work. Wear clothes you don't mind getting paint on!

What to bring

Pencils (need 12-15) charcoal pencils (3-4 erasers for charcoal) Erasers (only need 2-3) Canvas (16x20) Table top easels 1 white sheet or white drip cloth to cover still life table various still life objects: flowers, sculptures, tools?, decorative items (Jaime can bring in some objects also), fruit, pitcher/pottery/jars… 2 utility spotlights paint (Basic Color Set, Mixing Color Set) brushes (Black Bristle, Flat White Nylon, Round) napkins shout it out stain remover pen Styrofoam or durable paper plates for paint mixing (2-3 per person) Plastic water cups (solo cups)

About Jaime Normand

Jaime is a Board-Certified art therapist, painter, and ceramicist living in Manhattan. She received her MS in Art Therapy from Florida State University and her BA in Visual Arts from the University of Louisiana. Jaime currently works for Crespo Mental Health and is also an assistant to a ceramic artist in Brooklyn. She enjoys teaching art at all experience levels and is passionate about helping New Yorkers express themselves through art.
