Shinto: The Way of the Spirit
To be Japanese is to be Shinto, at least according to one famous old proverb. But Shinto has had a long history, obscured by politics and misinterpretations, which have ultimately transformed the indigenous system of connection to the sacred with something both modern and rural.
This lecture draws back that curtain and explores the history and practice of Shinto in Japan, and sheds light on the ancient practices that lent the title "Land of 1000 Gods" to Japan.
