Prospect Park Listening Tour

So many of us move through the city with our personal soundtrack, or else have our ears protectively shuttered against the din and cacophony all around us. Prospect Park was consciously designed to ameliorate some of this background clatter; and this time of year, with birds arriving nightly on their northward migration, the park is the place to reacquaint ourselves with simple hearing.  

We will turn off all our devices and open our ears to the birds’ “dawn chorus.” This walking meditation aims to be a sensory realignment, letting our ears bloom to the natural sounds, even in the heart of the city, of birds, squirrels, chipmunks, wind, and whatever else we may hear.
