How to Increase and Decrease in Knitting

How to Increase and Decrease in Knitting

So you've been stuck making scarves in straight lines, eh? Or perhaps you can knit two stitches together and that's about the limit of your shaping skills?

Come find out what wonders the world of increases and decreases holds for your knitting: you'll learn right-leaning decreases (k2tog), left-leaning decreases (ssk, k2tog tbl), the differences in appearance and when to use each one; as well as several cool increases (yo, m1, k1fb) that give your knitting very different looks.

We'll play with with combinations of increases and decreases to make a little sampler, culminating in a beautiful wavy chevron pattern that will never be difficult to you again.

Prerequisite skills: students should be comfortable knitting and purling.

Materials needed: some worsted weight yarn and a pair of US 7 needles (or circular if you prefer).
