Cross Stitch: Tiny House

Made with repeated x-shaped stitches, cross-stitch can be a calming alternative to embroidery. This introductory class will cover how to read a chart, spacing out your piece, stitching, and finishing your work.

Students will then customize their work by learning a few embroidery techniques. We'll be making the pattern pictured here, though we won't entirely finish in class.

All materials provided.

What to bring

Materials: Black or white 14 count aida cloth, embroidery floss, needles, water soluble pens/pencils, and 3” embroidery hoops Materials needed: cotton embroidery floss (like this) a needle (with a big enough eye for your embroidery floss) water soluble pen/pencil (like this) - these are great because you can wash the marks off your fabric, but don't panic if you don't have one 14 count Aida Cloth in any color and a 3 or 4 inch embroidery hoop Your glasses and/or good lighting!

Rhiannon Platt is at least third generation fiber artist. Raised by seamstresses, crocheters, and fiber artists of all kinds, she picked up her first pair of needles over a decade ago.
