Birth in America has gone through fundamental cultural shifts through the last one hundred years. In this class we will explore American culture and values through the way(s) we give birth. Students may be inspired to assess (or reassess) just what this rite of passage means to them. This class will include lecture, discussion and activities.
About E.A. Burlingame
E.A. Burlingame is a medical anthropologist, artist and educator who has been teaching people of all ages for a decade. Professor Burlingame's education philosophy is that learning is culture. Her teaching practices are steeped in active learning and laughter.
